AER-AID FOR GOLF
Grasses starved of air at their roots cannot thrive: regular aeration is therefore essential for all areas of the golf course. Sand based golf greens have particular problems. They are popular because of their free-draining characteristics. However, once their profiles have been altered by surface compaction excessive thatch can become a problem and infiltration rates are impeded.

At worst, the resulting anaerobic conditions can lead to “Black Layer”, identified by its foul smell and ultimately in its black colour. The roots are often already dead or dying before the black colour becomes noticeable. Improving aeration has been shown to reduce black layer by relieving compaction: the size of the air spaces in the rootzone are increased; thatch is reduced; infiltration rates are improved.

The AER-AID SYSTEM ensures that this vital treatment can be carried out quickly, without disruption to the surface. permitting aeration during the summer when maximum benefit will be achieved. Some users have made significant reductions in fertilizer and pesticide usage, and have used less water, following regular use of the SISIS AER-AID. The AER-AID moves air uniformly throughout the root zone for complete aeration of the entire area - not just where the tines have penetrated. This minimises the unsightly “mottled” effect associated with growth after hollow coring.
